A question we are regularly asked by our clients is whether we can use footage provided from a wide variety of sources, and the simple answer is yes.
It’s a very reasonable question. Brands have built large libraries over the years, producing their own video content, but there are other sources, such as archive footage from national broadcasters, or stock footage, even footage that’s been shot internally, such as user-generated content. It makes sense to use this approach because it’s a very cost-effective way to get maximum value from that video content.
A big challenge is that the quality of that footage could be highly variable, but we use post-production techniques and some AI as well to make sure that footage has a consistent look and feel.
A good example of a film that used footage from multiple sources was the employee brand films that we produced for Howden, and in particular, the Harry and FSO Safer film. When you’re watching that, what you’re seeing is footage from specialist film units, from stock libraries, from their own brand bank, but also footage that we shot ourselves.
If you have a project that requires footage from multiple sources, please do get in touch.
