Background

Postman is a global collaboration and productivity platform used by more than 40 million developers to design, test, document and monitor APIs all in one place.

Its university and organisational partnerships offer workshops, online learning modules and on-site training to make API education accessible worldwide. The goal: build user loyalty, drive enterprise adoption through bottom-up influence, and make Postman the default API platform.

 

The challenge

Postman’s partnership programme was already showing results: At California State University (CSU), testing time dropped from two weeks to one day, while at BITS Pilani, students benefited from a dedicated API Coding and Innovation Lab plus tailored workshops and boot camps. With these resources, students became API-literate before entering the workforce — closing the learning gap and accelerating innovation.

As the initiative expanded globally, Postman needed a video partner that could capture these stories with consistency and quality across territories, while staying true to the brand’s identity and tone.

The approach

Big Button filmed at each location, hearing directly from students and academics about the impact of Postman’s programme. Drawing on experience from previous advocacy work with Postman, these interviews formed the foundation of the films — supported by animation and behind-the-scenes footage to bring the stories to life.

Our knowledge of Postman’s platform and the wider tech landscape kept every film focused and relevant. Familiarity with the client’s objectives meant we could move quickly when new opportunities arose, saving Postman valuable time on onboarding and setup. Together, we produced content that raised awareness of the partnership and demonstrated its long-term value.

 

The outcome

The Postman team were delighted with the films and continue to produce new content to promote the programme.

The BITS Pilani story was especially significant: As alumni of the university, Postman’s co-founders entrusted Big Button to represent the brand with care and professionalism when interviewing senior leaders, including the Vice-Chancellor.

The partnership between Postman and Big Button continues to grow, with films completed on three continents — and more in development.
