Introducing the content delivery network for everyone
November 26, 2009 - 7:35:34You may not know this, but there's another internet. A private, super-fast fibre optic network that spans the globe - operated by Limelight Networks.
This "content delivery network" (CDN) is used by Microsoft to power the XBOX online experience, and by Apple to serve the iTunes store.
We have been offering this option to users of our Buto video platform as an "add-on" and we're pleased to announce that we've extended this to all existing users at no extra cost.
How?
As the internet gets busier at peak times, or when users are in other countries that are geographically remote from the Buto London servers - the CDN will deliver your video at the speed of light, direct to their network. By copying your content to thousands of servers around the globe we can reduce wait times, improve reliability and reach more remote locations faster.
It results in faster video downloads, reduced waiting at peak times, and a better user experience for your viewers.
Why?
Because, thanks to our Buto clients, we're now transmitting a large enough volume of data to make this viable.
Using a CDN is the most professional, reliable way to deliver video content over the web and it's the natural next-step in the evolution of the Buto video platform.
