Are you social?

Social media really isn't anything new, and it really isn't difficult either. The web is about sharing, and social media has come to mean people using simple systems to easily share ideas and information - as well as building up a network of people they know.

Like anything new on the web, it takes a little while for everyone to work out how they want to use it. Social network sites like Facebook, MySpace and messaging services like Twitter have changed as people have begun to use them for new, exciting purposes.

The biggest development however is the "application interface" - which means that Facebook and Twitter have made it easy for us technical guys to plug into these platforms. It's what makes it possible to write custom Facebook applications and automate Twitter updates and searches.
